Unprecedented demand for Liverpool FC tickets

Brisbane Roar FC today thanked its members for their patience following an unprecedented response this morning to a pre-sale opportunity to secure tickets to the club’s blockbuster showdown with Liverpool FC at Suncorp Stadium on Friday, 17 July.

The massive rush for tickets was not surprising. Liverpool FC has over 600,000 supporters in Australia and an estimated 580 million fans worldwide.

Liverpool FC members wishing to come to Brisbane for their club’s game were given the same pre-sale opportunity at exactly the same time as Roar members.

Although thousands of tickets were sold today, the match at the 52,500-capacity Suncorp Stadium is not yet a sell-out.

Representatives from Liverpool FC, along with a yet-to-be-revealed Anfield “legend”, arrived in Brisbane at the weekend and have scheduled a press conference at Suncorp Stadium tomorrow.

Liverpool FC representatives are expected to announce details surrounding the release of general admission tickets.

Liverpool FC are the promoters of their 2015 Tour, which also includes a match in Adelaide, and handled the ticketing process in consultation with Brisbane Roar FC.

All Roar members were contacted on Friday and again early this morning and advised about the ticketing process.

It was well publicised that the members’ pre-sale opportunity was not a guarantee of securing tickets.

For anyone who wasn’t able to participate in this morning’s pre-sale, or missed out on the tickets they wanted, there are plenty of opportunities in the coming weeks for Roar fans to enjoy top football action.

Second-placed Melbourne Victory travel to Suncorp Stadium on Friday to face a Roar side chasing its fourth consecutive win as it looks to consolidate a place in the top six. Tickets for that match are on sale now through Ticketek.

And the Roar returns to AFC Champions League action on Wednesday, 25 February, at Gold Coast Stadium.

Our opponents in that game will be decided on Tuesday night when Beijing Guoan host Matt Smith’s Bangkok Glass.

The Roar’s other AFC Champions League Group Stage games at Gold Coast Stadium are against South Korea’s Suwon Bluewings on Tuesday, 17 March and Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds on Tuesday, 5 May.

Tickets to all three Group Stage games are just $10 for adults and $5 for children, which includes free public transport to and from the matches.

A special three-game discount package is available while Roar members also get priority seating.

To book seats to those matches go through Ticketek at http://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=CHAMPLGE15.
