Update from BRFC Managing Director David Pourre

On behalf of the entire Brisbane Roar Football Club, we would like to thank you for your continued support and welcome you to the 2018/19 season.

Our pre-season has been long, however, it’s given our Club an opportunity to establish ourselves at our new home training base in Logan, connect with regional areas of Queensland (such as our men’s training camp in Mackay), play matches at a variety of grassroots clubs in South-East Queensland, transition our Westfield W-League team’s training base to Logan, and for the first time, compete across multiple age groups in the NPLQLD competition with our Academy teams. These are just a few of our highlights.

Whilst our result in this year’s FFA cup didn’t fall our way, the highlight was certainly the support and attendance at our game. Currently, we’ve achieved the second-highest crowd attendance during this year’s tournament. Only the Semi-Final between Sydney FC and WSW and potentially the Final will trump our efforts.

Logan

This pre-season has seen new arrivals into our Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League teams. We head into our first game on October 21 with teams that I know will do you proud. We aim for the ultimate success and you can have confidence that we will never give up on our pursuit to achieve this. It’s part of our DNA, it’s part of our culture and like any family, we will do this together.

Based on your feedback, we’ve constructed this year’s memberships to be more cost effective, provide more choices, and importantly, welcome more families to our Club. We have continued to grow our membership base. From our full-season memberships, multi-game memberships, our Roar Active Program and Academy memberships to our Corporate memberships, we are well placed to continue to grow this vital and important part of our Club.

The Club has been working hard with grassroots clubs, zones and Football Queensland to add more value to those who participate in our great game. We recognise the contributions (both time and financial) by parents/families in their local clubs. The Brisbane Roar values and embraces this support and we’ve created the ‘Roar Rascals’ Membership this season specifically to show our appreciation.

The Roar Rascals Membership is for those children aged between 6-11 who participate in MiniRoos programs at their local clubs. This one game ‘family’ membership is another value add to all grassroots clubs to drive further participation in our sport. Our Club has worked with FFA and in a significant win for football, we are pleased to announce that the Roar Rascals memberships will be recognised in our Club’s total membership numbers.

This recognition will now see our total membership grow to over 15,000 this year. In a competitive sporting and entertainment market where other codes recognise a variety of different memberships, if our Club overlaid the same criteria, our total membership number would be substantially more than 15,000. As part of our ongoing strategy, we will continue to focus on converting the many people who support our Club into members.

BRFC believes in continually giving back to our community as well as grassroots football clubs. This year, we’ve gifted over $100,000 in BRFC kit across many organisations in addition to contributing hundreds of hours in player and staff community engagements. From time-to-time, we will publish some of our contributions however, we believe our actions speak louder than words.

We’re privileged to be able to support these important organisations and groups and we will continue to do so with humility. I would also like to take a moment to thank the supporter groups such as the Roar Supporters Federation, Roar Corps, URoar and the Den that have contributed their time and resources throughout the pre-season. You’re an important part of the family.

Regardless if your interstate, overseas, in the far reaches of Queensland, or just around the corner, we value your support and loyalty. Your Club continues to provide an environment where you are welcomed and valued as part of the BRFC family. We will always look at ways to improve and your thoughts and opinions are listened to. As a family, we will continue to grow and support each other no matter the result because only together and united will we achieve great outcomes.

Let’s continue to #RoarAsOne.

Go Roar
