Brisbane Roar is pleased to report the arthroscopic surgery on Thomas Broich’s right ankle was successful, with the player, the surgeon and the club’s medical staff pleased with the outcome.
Broich had surgery late yesterday afternoon, while his teammates were in Sydney for the 1-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers at Pirtek Stadium, and the two-time Johnny Warren medallist is now recovering at home in minimal pain.
The German playmaker’s rehabilitation is expected to take around six weeks, meaning he’ll be aiming for a return against Wellington Phoenix on Monday, 2 February at Suncorp Stadium.
With the Hyundai A-League on a break during 9-31 January for the AFC Asian Cup, Roar medical staff is confident the extra time off from competitive action will help Broich in his recovery.
The club has a heavy schedule at the back end of the season, due to dual commitments with the group stage matches of the 2015 AFC Champions League.
