Brisbane Roar Head Coach Rado Vidosic will use Sunday-s pre-season fixture against Sydney FC in Mackay as another opportunity to prepare his side in both a conditioning and tactical point of view ahead of the upcoming Hyundai A-League season.
Despite two losses against Newcastle Jets and Adelaide United in consecutive weeks, Vidosic maintains he-s unfazed by the results.
“One of our priorities is giving the players returning from injury game time,” he said.
“Our second priority is making sure everyone else keeps building their 90 minutes against A-League teams.
“Finally, we are trying to tune up our attacking and defensive strategies.
“If we get a good result, that-s a bonus, if not, we-ll just keep working on those things.”
These two teams provided the setting for one of the most memorable matches of the previous Hyundai A-League season back in January when the Roar snatched the victory in the final five minutes.
After Mohamed Adnan equalised with a stunning free-kick, Besart Berisha headed home from close range to secure a famous 2-1 win over their New South Wales rivals.
Vidosic was hoping a similarly entertaining performance on Sunday in front of their northern Queensland supporters.
“Originally, we had hopes that-d we-d play our A-League regional fixture there so we owe Mackay a good performance.
“I-m happy to bring Brisbane Roar to Mackay and I-m also happy we-re playing Sydney – they are young and exciting team.
“I hope the people of Mackay enjoy it.”
The travelling squad will be finalised after training tomorrow morning.
Brisbane Roar play Sydney FC this Sunday, 16 September at Virgin Australia Stadium. Kick off is at 3pm. Tickets available here.
