Brisbane Roar are set to face the Central Coast Mariners at Sunshine Coast Stadium this Sunday and Head Coach Michael Valkanis looks forward to putting on a positive performance for the Sunshine Coast community.
“It’s great to be playing A-League teams and it’s great that we’re going to play this game out at the Sunshine Coast,” Valkanis said.
“We’ve played a few NPL games which is fantastic to get out into the community but it’s nice to test ourselves against our peers and teams in the A-League. We’re looking forward to another good game and a really good pre-season with a lot of games being scheduled.”
Valkanis is pleased to see his players continue to connect with the local football community to feel who they are playing for.
“It was great to go out there and have an open training session at the Sunshine Coast. It was great to meet the kids; it’s actually been awesome to go to all these regional areas because you’re getting to meet so many of the supporters.
“There’s a lot of people out there who absolutely love the Roar, and we have to reconnect and reengage and find that love between us because we want to create that awesome energy at Suncorp once the season starts.”
With the club expecting an attendance of 6000 people, Valkanis is looking forward to seeing so many fans supporting the squad ahead of an exciting season.
“To go back out to the Sunshine coast, we’re all really excited, it’s a great opportunity, we’re hearing lots of tickets have been sold which is amazing for a friendly game in pre-season two months out of the season so we’re certainly going to respect that and make the supporters proud with our efforts and our work.”
