New Zealand international Olivia Chance is the latest to sign on in Brisbane orange ahead of the Westfield W-League 2020/21 season.
The 27-year-old midfielder heads to Australia for her maiden Westfield W-League season following spending the last eight years in the Northern Hemisphere, most recently at English outfit Sheffield United.
The 20-time New Zealand International, who represented her country at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, is excited about all that comes with the new challenge down under.
“I haven’t had the chance to play in the [Westfield] W-League during my career and the opportunity do so in the current climate was one I couldn’t turn down.
“I’ve spent eight years outside of New Zealand and to have the opportunity to play so close to home is something I always wanted to do.
“With a few Kiwis in the league, I’ve always had a look at how it’s going. It’s great to have seen the growth of the league and it will be nice to experience it myself.
“I’ve spent the last four years in England and haven’t seen a whole lot of sun. I am very excited to meet the team, the staff and see Australia as a whole.”
Following a four-year college career with the South Florida Bulls, during which she was the team’s leading goalscorer in three consecutive seasons, she joined Icelandic club Breiðablik UBK before stints in the Women’s Super League with Everton and Bristol City.
“Olivia is another terrific addition to our squad to the upcoming season,” Head Coach Jake Goodship said.
“She has plenty of experience at clubland across Europe and she’s been to the pinnacle of our sport internationally at the World Cup in 2019.
“It’s great to be able to introduce another player to the [Westfield] W-League and hopefully it’s the first season of many in Brisbane for Olivia.”
