Wet & wild Saturday

A strong crowd at Corporate Travel Management Stadium were able to get up close alongside their Brisbane Roar idols following the cancellation of today’s pre-season friendly.

A large downpour shortly before the scheduled kick-off time of 3pm for today’s game against Central Coast Mariners originally delayed kick-off until 4pm.

Support staff from both Brisbane Roar and Brisbane City FC valiantly tried to clear water from the sodden pitch, but were unable to move the large volume of water. A decision was made to cancel the game shortly after.

Following the announcement, the crowd at Spencer Park were invited onto the field for an autograph and photo opportunity with the Roar squad.

Patrons who had purchased a ticket for today’s game will be given the opportunity to attend a Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season fixture free of charge. More details to come.

The Roar will now continue their pre-season preparation as the countdown continues to the October 7 Hyundai A-League season opener at Suncorp Stadium against Melbourne Victory.

One pre-season fixture remains for the boys in orange against PS4 National Premier Leagues Queensland U23 Select at Queensland Sports & Athletics Centre (QSAC) on Saturday, 24 September (3pm KO).
