Brisbane Roar Youth have jumped to top spot in Conference A of the Foxtel National Youth League with a 2-1 victory over Melbourne Victory Youth on Sunday.

The victory is the third consecutive win for the side who jump Melbourne City into top spot in Conference A with an unbeaten record.

Nicholas Panetta opened the scoring in the first half, finishing a lightning-quick attack with a tap-in from a Connor O’Toole cross.

The Victory restored parity nine minutes later through Joshua Hope before both sides traded rare chances until the game opened up late in the second half.

Panetta then turned provider for O’Toole who drilled a low shot past Victory keeper Lucas Spinella.

Young Roar keeper Tomislav Bilic was then called into action in the dying stages to deny Victory captain Pierce Waring, keeping the Young Roar’s slender lead intact until the final whistle.
