Our Young Roar will round out its 2018 NPL QLD campaign against Moreton Bay United this Saturday night on home turf against Moreton Bay United (7pm KO).

The finals-bound Jets will be the Roar Youth’s final test of a 2018 campaign which has seen a great number of BRFC Academy members get a taste of senior football.

All-in-all, an incredible 41 players have been given an opportunity in the NPL QLD this season which leading goalscorer Mirza Muratovic says places the squad in good stead for the upcoming National Youth League (NYL) campaign.

“We’ve had a lot of players transition from the younger squads this season and get their opportunity. It’s been a good season in that regard and we’re looking forward to the NYL,” Muratovic said.

The young striker, who has found the back of the net eight times this season, including two braces, is remaining focused however on the task at hand.

The Jets, who are already booked in to for a semi-final date with premiers Lions FC, edged the last meeting with the Young Roar in a gripping contest at Wolter Park back in May.

Muratovic believes the Roar have what it takes to equal the season ledger and finish their season on a high.

“They’re a good challenge. We had a tough game against them last time but I know the lads are looking forward to Saturday,” he continued.

“We have a few boys coming back from injury, and it would be good to finish the season on a high.”

Like a number of Young Roar squad members, Muratovic has had the chance to train alongside the Roar first-team during pre-season and test himself against Hyundai A-League opposition.

As well as chance to adapt to the level required of Hyundai A-League footballers, Muratovic says it’s also a great opportunity for the squad to bond.

“It’s tough [Hyundai A-League pre-season]. You learn all the structures, and you get to bond with the players so they get to know you,” he continued.

“It means when you get an opportunity, it makes it easier to slot in.”

As a young up-and-coming attacker, Muratovic is also making the most of his chance to learn from one of Australia’s finest strikers in Head Coach John Aloisi.

“He gives me a lot of advice and feedback on things like my placement on the pitch. It’s always good to get feedback like that, especially coming from an ex-Socceroo,” he concluded.
