Young Roar looking forward to home comforts

The Young Roar return home to Brisbane for their first home fixture in three weeks, taking on Melbourne City this Saturday afternoon (5pm KO QLD time).

The Young Roar will play at A.J. Kelly Park, a welcome return home following a taxing away trip to Perth before last week’s bye.

The fixture, originally scheduled for a 2pm kick-off, has been moved to the 5pm timeslot in anticipation of expected scorching temperatures across the city. Entry to A.J. Kelly Park will be FREE.

Saturday’s Foxtel National Youth League clash with be the first of three Roar-City ties this weekend, with the Young Roar having the opportunity to get the weekend off to the perfect start.

Coach James Robinson is looking forward to playing in front of orange-clad supporters for the first time in three weeks.

“We’re excited to be at A.J. Kelly Park for the first time this season. The support from Brisbane’s footballing community is fantastic and we’re looking forward to feeling the benefits,” said Robinson.

“We want to continue our momentum. We’re coming back from a long away trip to Perth but we don’t take our foot off the pedal.”

The Young Roar’s attack has started the season on fire, with nine goals shared among seven different scorers. Joey Katebian and Shannon Brady are the squad’s two leading goal scorers, and Robinson has praised Brady for his leadership and quality in attack.

“He [Brady] is standing up tall, playing in the youth team as a senior player. He’s raising standards, delivering with goals and assists and driving the momentum forward,” Robinson said.

Melbourne City Youth are yet to lose this season and will provide an tough test for the Young Roar. Robinson insists his focus is firmly on his team and how the Roar can secure their second win of the season.

“If you desire to be the best you’ve got to play against the best. We rise to occasions, we have standards and expectations of what we can control and that’s what drives us,” said Robinson.

“We’re going to continue to push and drive things the way we want to play.”
