Brisbane Roar will face Newcastle Jets this Saturday afternoon as they look to continue their winning form in Round 5 of the Ninja A-League.
This fixture was rescheduled due to the international break in November and comes off the back of an incredible 3-1 win away to Adelaide United.
WHAT WAS SAID
Head Coach, Alex Smith was very pleased with his side’s performance against Adelaide and hopes to see this confidence roll into Saturday’s Jets clash.
“Obviously coming off a disappointing result against Western Sydney at home, I’m really pleased with how the girls bounced back,” Smith said.
“It was probably our best performance of the year, in a place like Adelaide is very tough to go against a good team was really pleasing for me. Looking forward to playing a run of games now.”
In her first season in orange, Aimee Medwin is enjoying life at Roar and is hoping to secure consecutive wins in their trip to Newcastle this weekend.
“Jets have had a couple of really good performances recently so I think we definitely can’t go into that game thinking it’s going to be an easy win or anything like that,” Medwin said.
“We’re going to have to fight for our result. They’ve got that home advantage, for us it’ll be just trying to take the energy we had from the Adelaide performance into this game.”

Alex Smith has made one change, with 18-year-old Ruby Cuthbert coming into the side after captain Tameka Yallop left the pitch with a leg injury during Sunday’s action in Adelaide.
