Aiming to continue their solid start to the season that has comprised of 1 win, 1 loss and 1 draw against reigning champions Melbourne City last Saturday, the Roar will head back to the same venue that hosted them in a famous pre-season fixture just months ago in Sunshine Coast Stadium. Meeting them there, will be Australia Cup champions, Newcastle Jets with the fixture set to become the first ever A-Leagues fixture played in the region.

WHAT WAS SAID

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s trip to the ‘Sunny Coast’ and the improvements that need to be made along with the immense support from the region, head coach Michael Valkanis said, “Keeping clean sheets is really vital. Good teams keep clean sheets and they’re able to score goals.

“That’s the next part of improving. Another 25-30% and becoming more clinical and taking our chances that we are creating.”

“I love going out to these regions (Sunshine Coast) and taking a game there.

“There’s great support for our team there and we saw that in pre-season. The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. I didn’t expect it on that day and we would love the Sunny Coast people to come out and support us again in the same way.”
