Youthful Roar side fall short in friendly against Jets in Coffs Harbour

Brisbane Roar travelled to Coffs Harbour for a pre-season match against Newcastle Jets on Wednesday evening.

Head Coach Ross Aloisi took a youthful squad to provide match minutes to new signings like Shae Cahill, Rylan Brownlie and Jonas Markovski while Senior players were rested, as the squad continues preparations for the Australia Cup Semi Finals this Sunday.

Roar went down 4-0 to the Jets after two goals from Lachlan Bayliss, one from Trent Buhagiar and Lucas Mauragis.

Brisbane was down to 10 men at the second half after James Nikolovski received a red card for a last-man-in-defence challenge that denied a goal-scoring opportunity. Nikolovski remains eligible for the Australia Cup Semi-Final this Sunday.

Despite the loss, Ross Aloisi is pleased to have provided the new signings and youngsters in the squad some valuable match minutes ahead of the Isuzu UTE A-League season.

All eyes are now on this Sunday when Roar take on Melbourne Knights in the Australia Cup Semi Finals.

KO is 6pm AEST at Knights Stadium. Catch the action on 10Play!
