Biography
Versatile defender, Antonee Burke-Gilroy who can also operate as fullback on either side of the pitch and across midfield will play his fourth A-League season in Brisbane in 2025/26.
Known for engine, delivery and ability to get up and down the pitch, Burke-Gilroy started his Australian career at Newcastle Jets, where he starred for their NPL side across two seasons.
This earned him a loan move to Portuguese side Académica B, where he featured 7 times. Burke-Gilroy remained abroad, this time in the United Stated with USL Championship side Tacoma Defiance, where he made 55 appearances.
Burke-Gilroy returned to Australia, with short stints at Altona Magic and Brisbane Roar before settling in at Perth Glory, making 34 appearances across two seasons.
Burke-Gilroy returned for a second stint in Brisbane during the early stages of the 2023/24 season and went on to play 17 matches for the side that season. The defender surpassed the 50 games mark in the competition whilst establishing him as an important part of the back four and earning a one year contract extension.
In 2024/25 the versatile defender cemented himself in the Roar eleven, playing 26 A-League matches. Only Club Captain Jay O’Shea appeared more times throughout the season.
