Biography
Young Matildas defender, Ava Piazza joins Brisbane Roar from Pyunik FC in the Armenian Premier League after previously playing for Portuguese side Clube de Albergaria in the Liga BPI.
The defender, who can play both defensive midfield and central defence, played her junior football for Sydney University Soccer Football Club. She then went on to join Western Sydney Wanderers’ Future Women’s Program and played Under 17’s for Apia Leichhardt.
Piazza was selected into the Football NSW Institute before becoming a Melbourne Victory train-on player and having a breakout year that saw her become a part of the Future Matildas Training Program and part of several Young Matildas training camps. This success led to her signing her first A-League contract with Canberra United.
Piazza is an aggressive player, always on the front foot who now has European experience to bring back to the A-League Women’s.
