Lucas Herrington is a ball playing central defender who earns a three year scholarship deal with the Roar after performing a key role in the heart of defence for Young Roar in the NPL this season, impressing with his defensive presence, game awareness and ability to break lines.
The towering 17-year-old made his first team debut on Roar’s India tour, playing in the heart of defence in a side that kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Sporting Clube De Goa.
The defender has represented the Australia at youth level, starting three games for Brad Maloney’s side as they finished third at the ASEAN U19 Boys’ Championship in Indonesia last month.
The Taringa Rovers, Toowong FC and Brisbane City junior has been at Roar for five years and earns a scholarship contract after joining the club the club’s U13 side in 2020.
