Brisbane Roar are pleased to announce the signing of young striker Rylan Brownlie on a scholarship contract for the upcoming Isuzu UTE A-League season.
After displaying outstanding talent in Roar’s NPL side, Brownlie was invited to take part in the five-day domestic training camp in Sydney for the Subway Joeys in the lead-up to the 2023 U17 Asian Cup.
The 16-year-old will look to build on the experience gained through the camp and his time at the Academy in his first season at the Brisbane Roar.
Fans will be excited to see his development in the seasons to come, with faith that he can become a valuable asset to Ross Aloisi’s team.
The striker is honoured to be part of the Roar and is excited for what’s to come in his football career.
“It’s absolutely amazing, it’s a brilliant club and they’re going to do some damage to the other teams this year. Extremely excited,” Brownlie said.
“I started as one of the youngest in the squad at the Academy and I’ve always played up my whole life chasing an extra spot and the next starting 11. It’s an absolute privilege to be here and I’m so excited to go on with this team.”
Head Coach Ross Aloisi regards Rylan Brownlie as a powerful young striker with a great work ethic, the fundamentals for an up-and-comer.
“He is a very direct attacking player, very powerful. He has a great work ethic, an eye for goal and he is very fast as well. That helped with us selecting him into this current squad and giving him a scholarship,” Aloisi said.
“He can learn a lot from our older players and to play within our structures. He will learn our playing style and use his pace and directness to establish himself here with the Brisbane Roar.”
