Brisbane Roar Head Coach, Ross Aloisi says he’ll treat Friday’s Isuzu UTE A-League Round 8 clash against his brother John Aloisi’s Western United like any other match.
Friday’s match at AAMI Park pits the Aloisi brothers against one another in competitive action for the first time.

John Aloisi is the Roar’s longest serving Head Coach having taken the team for 96 games between across three seasons with Ross working as his assistant throughout his tenure.
“It’s like every other game, I know that the media would like it to be something special and that’s great but for me it’s another game with the Brisbane Roar against Western United playing away,” Ross Aloisi said.
“We’re trying to better what we did last week, play a good brand of football and get the win.”
Roar start the weekend in second position on the A-League ladder, just a point shy of league leading Macarthur after seven rounds of action and look to make it five matches unbeaten with a result against Western on Friday.
In contrast, Western United are rooted to the bottom of the league table and are without a win since the opening round of the season although Aloisi said his side certainly wouldn’t be taking their opponents lightly.
“That’s the reason why I say it’s another game as far as I’m concerned, we prepared the same way, it’s a shorter turnaround for us because we played Sunday so we have to get things done really quickly and make sure that we analysed what their strengths are,” Aloisi said.
“The bottom line is Western United create a lot of goal scoring opportunities in games and that is a danger for us, we’ve got to make sure that defensively we’re very good and make sure that we play the football that we can play and hurt them on the other side.
“We always want to win games, but again it’s all about the process and I said this at the start and will until the end, it’s about the process and hopefully if we work through that process the result will take care of itself.”
Roar can go at least temporarily top of the league with a win in Friday’s match that kicks off at 5pm AEST and will be broadcast live on Paramount+.
