Brisbane Roar suffered a 3-2 defeat to Western United at City Vista Recreation Reserve on Sunday evening after a late penalty handed the hosts the three points.
Western United were first to open the scoring in the 8th minute after Chloe Logarzo scored a header off a corner set-piece.
Roar responded in the 29th minute after Sharn Freier drove through Western United defence to put a cross in for Kijah Stephenson to find the back of the net to equalise.
Sharn Freier got her second assist of the night after finding Mia Corbin in front of goal to put it away and give Roar the lead in the 31st minute.
After returning from the break, both teams were back-and-forth until the 79th minute where Adriana Taranto found the back of the net to make it 2-2.
It was a late penalty that cost Roar any chance at taking home a point, with Tameka Yallop committing a foul in the box.
Chloe Logarzo stepped up for the penalty and confidently struck it to the left of goal to secure all three points for the home side.
Queensland product Alicia Woods made her debut for Roar in this match after stepping up in the midfield.
Roar take on Newcastle Jets next Saturday at Maitland Sports Ground in hopes of gaining much-needed points to remain in the finals race.
