Brisbane Roar are delighted to welcome Brisbane City midfielder Laini Freier to the club ahead of the 2024/25 A-League Women’s season.
Sister of CommBank Matilda’s forward Sharn, the 23-year-old will join her twin for the upcoming season in orange.
Freier won the NPLW QLD Championship and Premiership plate with Brisbane City after a 2-1 win over Lions FC on the weekend. She scored a total of seven goals this year, including a goal in the Semi Final and Grand Final, both assisted by her sister.
The talented Queensland midfielder played her junior football at Moreton Bay United before joining the Roar Youth squad and winning the NPL Grand Final in 2018. In 2020, she joined The Gap for two years where Freier won Young Footballer of the Year.
Before joining Brisbane City, she returned to her junior club and scored six goals at Moreton Bay United before sustaining an ACL injury that saw her out of football until the end of 2022. That setback drove Freier to work even harder, and has made this latest opportunity all the sweeter, whilst again getting the chance to play alongside her twin sister.
“I’m very excited to be playing my first A league season with Roar this year. It’s going to be a new challenge for me so I’m grateful for the opportunity,” Freier said.
“Sharn and I have played together since we were little, so I’m stoked to be able to play with her here at Roar. It’s a dream come true.”
