ALW R11 Match Preview: Melbourne City vs Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar travel south for a top of the table clash against Melbourne City at AAMI Park on Saturday night in Round 11 of the Ninja A-League.

After bouncing back in front of home fans in Wednesday night’s 2-0 win over Melbourne Victory at home, Roar will be determined to claim first place on the ladder on Saturday.

Brisbane have been challenged with a short turnaround after having played three matches in eight days but nevertheless, will be determined for three points away from home.

      Goalkeeper Olivia Sekany is enjoying her football in Brisbane after signing on loan from Racing Louisville, and is excited for the opportunity to move to the top of the table in Saturday’s clash.

      “City is a great side but if we want to be the best we have to test ourselves against the best,” Sekany said.

      “At the end of the day it’s an opportunity to showcase what we are capable of as a squad and I think everybody is ready to take on that challenge.”

          LAST TIME WE MET

          In Round 18 of the 2023/24 season, Brisbane Roar secured three points in a 2-0 win over Melbourne City at Perry Park.

          After a scoreless first-half, Tameka Yallop opened the scoring in the 59th minute after a through ball from Alicia Woods set her up nicely to drive into the box and put it away. 

          Just two minutes later, Alicia Woods made her second assist of the night which saw Sharn Freier strike the ball around Bárbara to the bottom left of goal to make it 2-0.
