Brisbane Roar FC today confirms the departures of goalkeeper Macklin Freke and midfielder Henry Hore at the conclusion of their contracts.
Both players leave having made significant contributions to the club on and off the pitch.
Freke departs after more than a decade with the Roar, having come through the club’s youth ranks. He was part of the 2019 A-League Youth Championship winning squad and progressed to make his A-League Men debut in the 2020/21 season. Across 75 appearances, Freke featured in the club’s run to the 2023 Australia Cup Final and was named Gary Wilkins Player of the Season in 2024.
Hore closes a five-year chapter at the club, finishing with 104 appearances in orange. A fan favourite from the outset, he was named Young Player of the Year in his debut season and consistently brought commitment and heart to every performance. Hore has elected not to take up a contract extension and will explore opportunities elsewhere, a decision the club fully respects.
Two proud Queenslanders, Macklin and Henry represented Brisbane Roar with pride and class, throughout their time at the club.
The Roar thanks both players for their service and wishes them both every success in the next stage of their careers.
