Brisbane Roar can confirm to members and fans that the club’s Round 1 Isuzu UTE A-League Men fixture against Adelaide United, originally scheduled for Sunday, October 18 (2:00pm local time), has been rescheduled to Tuesday, December 15.
Adelaide United requested a change to the fixture through the Australian Professional Leagues (APL), citing the proximity of the match to its AFC Champions League Two fixture in Bangkok on Thursday, October 15.
Brisbane Roar proposed moving the match to Monday, October 19. This option would have provided Adelaide United with an additional recovery day while allowing the Round 1 fixture to proceed.
While a Monday fixture would have shortened Brisbane Roar’s preparation for its Round 2 match against Perth Glory on Friday, October 23, the club was prepared to accommodate this compromise in the interests of preserving the Round 1 fixture.
The APL did not adopt this option, and the revised date again creates a more demanding schedule for Brisbane Roar later in the season and leaves the club without a match during the Round 1 weekend.
This is the second time in two seasons Brisbane Roar has faced late fixture changes. At the beginning of January 2026, a revised schedule resulted in the team playing four matches in ten days.
Brisbane Roar respects the APL’s final decision. However, the club wishes to make it unmistakably clear that it strongly rejected the proposed December rescheduling and advocated for the Monday, October 19 alternative, being more than satisfactory for all parties.
The club will continue to advocate for fixture decisions that fairly balance the needs of all clubs and protect the integrity of the competition.
