Brisbane Roar have made a stance against physical and verbal intimidation in the schoolyard after joining forces with 97.3 FM and the Courier Mail for the ‘Say No to Bullying’ campaign.
Urging people to wear orange in support of the campaign, 97.3 FM and the Courier Mail hosted a special broadcast outside Kenmore State High School.
Roar stars Griffin McMaster, Reinaldo, Henrique and fan-favourite mascot Roary, joined the media outlets, promoting the campaign from the club-s marquee tent.
Roary and the players handed out free Roar poncho-s, signed autographs and posed for photographs as a strong crowd arrived to oppose bullying in school.
McMaster even made an appearance on 97.3 FM, joining breakfast crew Robin, Terry and Bob for a brief stint behind the microphone.
McMaster said he was more than willing to help abolish bullying, a problem which has been plaguing schoolyards for far too long.
“Obviously bullying was around when I was at school, and I-ve been out of school for ten years,” the 26 year-old.
“You don-t like to see it going on and it-s good to help promote the eradication of the problem.”
The ‘Say No to Bullying- campaign is a week-long joint venture between 97.3 FM and the Courier Mail and is supported by Education Queensland.
