Brisbane Roar captain Ayesha Norrie says video reviews and team discussions have enabled the group to move on from last week’s loss and refocus on tonight’s clash with Canberra United at Perry Park.
The Roar return to Liberty A-League action five days on from a chastening 8-2 defeat to Adelaide United, a tough result to stomach for a side that had only lost by more than a goal on one other occasion this season.
The sight of a concerning injury for Mia Bailey during that match – which has fortunately proven to not be serious – didn’t help matters but as they get set to take on Canberra, the onus is on rising to a new challenge in a new moment.
“It was a hard pill to swallow,” Norrie said.
“We’ve looked back at the video from the game and we all know we didn’t play well as a team or as individuals. We’ve had discussions about it.
“That’s been and gone, so now we’ve just been focused on this match.”

Friday’s meeting with Canberra is the penultimate home match of the season for the Roar, who have four games left to play in total.
There will be an extra level of redemption up for grabs after Brisbane were harshly held to a 3-3 draw when the teams last met in December.
The concession of two late goals cost Garrath McPherson’s side two points from a match they largely dominated, having played well in recovering from an early deficit.
“We executed our roles in that last game,” Norrie said.
“We’re looking to do that again and keep those levels up for the whole 90 minutes.
“This season has been crazy. Unfortunately it’s one for us where injuries and different things have caused us a few setbacks. But that’s just footy, that’s how it is.
“Some of the results have been pretty wild, but we take it on board and try to play our game.”
