With both Westfield W-League and Hyundai A-League seasons hitting their final straights, our players have been doing their bit to get out & about and give back to their local communities.
With local junior competitions set to begin in the coming weeks, a number of Brisbane’s next generation of football stars have had the lucky chance to meet some of their Brisbane Roar idols.
Our 2018/19 Roar Women Golden Boot winner Allira Toby passed on some of her tricks of the trade following a standout Westfield W-League season, dropping by Lions FC to speak to the Club’s NPLW junior sides ahead of their season kick-off last week.
Fresh off the back of a Foxtel NYL Championship & a sparkling start to the NPL QLD season, Shannon Brady also visited Wynnum Wolves for the Club’s sign-on day.
They’re best known for their skills on field, but Daniel Bowles and Joe Caletti also tried their hand at passing on some of their tips and tricks at The Big Issue’s Community Football Program at New Farm Park.
The program, coordinated by The Big Issue, who work to address community issues such as homelesness, substance abuse and family breakdowns, is an opportunity for participants to participate in a group, sporting environment and seek support in a safe environment.

As well as helping coach and run the clinic, the pair spoke to the group about commitment and determination.
Nick D’Agostino, who has also just turned 21, joined 96five’s morning breakfast show cast of Ken, Nicky & Steve to hand out some goodies as part of the station’s school excursion program.
