Brisbane Roar can confirm that goalkeeper Matthew Acton will leave the club effective immediately.
The 21-year-old, who has spent the past seven years plying his trade at the Queensland club, made his debut in the recently-completed Hyundai A-League campaign, deputising for Michael Theo for two matches.
Keeping a clean sheet in his first match against Perth Glory and pulling off some game-changing saves in his second game away to Adelaide United, Acton and Brisbane Roar mutually decided it was in his best interests to explore opportunities elsewhere.
“Matt has had a taste for first team football and wishes to pursue other options,” Football Director Ken Stead said.
“He goes with our full blessing. Matt has been a loyal servant to this club ever since he joined as a teenager in our youth system and we wish him every success in his career.”
After almost five years in the club-s Foxtel National Youth League side, Acton signed his first senior contract in 2012 with his two year deal now concluded.
