ALW R15 Match Wrap: Brisbane Roar 1-2 Melbourne Victory

Brisbane Roar went down 2-1 to Melbourne Victory at Perry Park on Saturday evening after a back-and-forth 90 minutes full of chances.

Although an overall well-matched game with plenty of opportunities for both sides, Melbourne Victory were the ones to open the scoring with Emma Checker finding the back of the net with her left foot.

Brisbane Roar responded in the 36th minute with Tameka Yallop acting on a ball hovering in front of goal to finish for the equaliser and enter the break all level.

Ayesha Norrie, Hollie Palmer and Jordan Silkowitz were all shown yellow cards for fouls throughout the match on the visitors.

Silkowitz’ foul in the box was detrimental to Roar as it saw Melbourne’s Rachel Lowe convert the penalty to lead 2-1 in the 77th minute and secure the three points.

Roar take on Western United away next Sunday in hopes of returning to winning ways.
