ALW R15 Match Wrap: Western Sydney Wanderers 2-1 Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar suffered a 2-1 defeat to Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday evening to deny hopes of restoring their season at WSW Football Park.

Wanderers’ Sienna Saveska opened the scoring for Western Sydney in just the seventh minute, capitlising on a defensive error with a wonderful finish.

The remainder of the second half saw both sides have their fair share of chances and moments of dominance, but the break approached with a 1-0 lead to Western Sydney.

18-year-old Queenslander Zara Kruger opened her goal-scoring account with a gorgeous strike into the back of the net to mark her first ever Brisbane Roar goal in the 68th minute.

Western Sydney were persistent up front, regaining their lead in the 88th minute through Holly Casper finding the target to cause an upset and take the three points to break their losing streak.

Young players Isabela Hoyos, Tamar Levin & Tanaye Morris found valuable match minutes that they will look to continue working hard towards in the coming weeks.

Roar return to Perry Park in what will be a great opportunity to bounce back in front of home support as they aim to return to their winning form.

Brisbane will be up against an in-form fourth-placed Western United side but will be up for the challenge on home soil.
