ALW R18 Match Wrap: Brisbane Roar 0-4 Melbourne City

Brisbane Roar suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of league leaders Melbourne City at Perry Park on Wednesday night.

City’s Taylor Otto opened the scoring in the ninth minute after chaos inside the box handed the visitors a 1-0 lead.

In the 20th minute, Holly McQueen blasted a shot to the bottom right corner but it swept wide to deny Roar a chance.

After returning from the break, Roar held City out until Holly McNamara struck a stunning shot into the back of the net to extend their lead, 2-0.

For one last effort for Roar, Emily Pringle sent a curly one flying straight towards the back of the net under the crossbar but it was saved by Malena Mieres.

Bryleeh Henry added to Melbourne City’s goal tally after finding the back of the net in a one-on-one with Keeley Richards in the 89th minute.

Mariana Speckmaier sealed all three points for the visitors with a superb header in the fifth minute of added time.

Roar are in their hectic week of three games in seven days, and up next they will travel to Gosford to face a fifth-placed Central Coast Mariners side on Sunday evening.
