ALW R20 Preview: Adelaide United v Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar will be looking for a crucial three points on the road when they take on Adelaide United at Marden Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon as they aim for a top six spot.

With three games remaining of the regular Liberty A-League season, Roar will look to do one better than their last meeting with Adelaide that ended in a tie, to snatch all three points away from home.

WHAT WAS SAID

Head Coach Alex Smith is looking for a crucial three points away from home this Saturday and believes capitalising on periods of dominance and putting chances away will be key for the win.

“Any team in this league is dangerous, I thought we were the better team last time we played them and deserved more from the game, but it will be a big test away from home again. As always, I’m confident if we work hard and put away our chances then we won’t have any problems,” Smith said.

“For me, it’s about converting our periods of dominance into goals and points. That’s something we haven’t been able to do this year, that’s been a big problem. We’re just looking to use these last three games to try get as many points as possible.”

LAST TIME WE MET

These two teams last met at Suncorp Stadium in Round 6 where the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate to see the points shared.

Hannah Blake opened the scoring with a delightful individual goal to carry the ball past defence and around Jordan Silkowitz, finding the back of the net in the 13th minute.

Just before half-time the Americans linked up which saw a stunning cross from Leah Scarpelli to Mia Corbin in the box where she struck off a first touch to mark her first goal under the bright lights of Suncorp Stadium.
