Brisbane Roar fell short in Gosford in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Central Coast Mariners at Industree Group Stadium on Sunday evening.
Laini Freier stunned with an opening goal in the first 21 seconds of the match, after a scramble in the box, to hand Brisbane Roar the lead early on.
Mariners’ Isabel Gomez opens the scoring with a beautifully placed shot to sweep past Keeley Richards and equalise 1-1.
After many chances for both sides, Annalise Rasmussen gave Central Coast the lead in the 71st minute to cause an upset for a Roar side that are aiming for a spot in the top six.
Roar will embark on their trip to Singapore in the upcoming international break next week where they will take on a WPL All-Stars side.
They return to Ninja A-League action when they host Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday 13 April at Perry Park.
