Ben Halloran returns to Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar are pleased to confirm that Queenslander, Ben Halloran has returned to the club ahead of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season. 

The six-time Socceroo, who represented Australia at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil is back for a second stint in Brisbane having played club football in Germany, Japan and Korea following his departure from the Roar in 2013. 

The experienced winger arrives at the Roar from Adelaide United where he made 141 appearances and scored 28 goals. 

During his time with the Reds, Halloran won the Australia Cup twice and was awarded the Aurelio Vidmar Medal in the 2020/21 season. 

Halloran grew up in Queensland, playing his junior football for Edge Hill United and Wynnum Wolves before representing the QAS and making his A-League debut with Gold Coast United. 

The winger joined Roar from United for the 2012/13 campaign, making 18 appearances and scoring four goals in Brisbane with his performances earning him a move to German 2. Bundesliga side, Fortuna Dusseldorf. 

Halloran spent five seasons in the German second tier which included three years at FC Heidenheim, in total Halloran played 87 games, registering 13 goals and six assists during his time in the 2. Bundesliga. 

Prior to returning the A-League with Adelaide United, Halloran played half a season in the J.League with V-Varen Nagasaki, where he made ten competitive appearances.  

Halloran, who also spent a brief period in the K-League with FC Seoul in 2022 said couldn’t wait to get home and started in Brisbane. 

“I’m very excited and grateful for the opportunity to return to my home-town club and am eager to start a new challenge,” Halloran said. 

“I can’t wait to join the team and hopefully win some silverware together. 

“I have fond memories of supporting Brisbane Roar as a teenager and playing for the club as a 20-year-old. It feels fitting to be rejoining the club and I can’t wait to get started.” 

Halloran joins Harry Van Der Saag, Ben Warland, Marcus Ferkranus and Hosine Bility as the club’s fifth confirmed new arrival ahead of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season and will link up with his new team mates when pre-season commences in the coming weeks.
