Brisbane Roar extends Leia Varley on a new two-year deal

Brisbane Roar are excited to announce that central defender Leia Varley has signed a new two-year extension that will see her at the club through to the end of the 2026/27 Ninja A-League season.

After joining the Roar from Premiership-winning side Melbourne City, Varley has cemented her position at Brisbane Roar, making her mark in central defence.

Varley has started in 14 games so far this season, making a total of 64 clearances, 10 blocks, 25 interceptions and scoring her first ever A-League goal in Roar’s 8-2 victory in Round 8 against Western United.

Previously, the 23-year-old has also played in the Victorian Women’s Premier League for both South Melbourne FC and the Football Victoria Emerging Matilda’s Program.

Varley stated her happiness to have sealed her future in orange for the next two seasons.

“I am excited to extend my time here at Brisbane roar,” Varley said.

“The club, this season, has given me a chance to really make a name for myself in the league and I know I will only keep advancing as a footballer every time I walk out in the Roar colours.”

“This season, I believe, is only a taste of a new era for the Brisbane roar which the fans should be excited about. Something special is definitely building and just like before I have no doubt Roar will be back to lifting trophies.”

“I look forward to many more games at Perry Park with sold out crowds. For the next two seasons, Roar will be my family and home.”
