Brisbane Roar can today confirm that goalkeeper, Matt Acton will not be returning for 25/26 A-League Men season after his recent contract with the club concluded.
A product of both the Queensland Academy of Sport and Brisbane Roar Youth, Acton spent more than ten years at the football club across three separate spells. Notably, Acton was a member of the 13/14 Brisbane Roar squad that famously claimed the Premiership and Championship double for the club.
Speaking on departing the club, Matt Acton said: “I’m sad and disappointed to have to say goodbye to this wonderful club and the fantastic fans.
“I had hoped to continue representing my hometown club but unfortunately things don’t always work out the way we would like them to.
“I want to thank the club for giving me the opportunity to come back to Brisbane and play again where it all started for me in the A-League.
“I wish the club, Michael and the players and most importantly the fans all the very best for the upcoming season and beyond.”
Brisbane Roar would like to thank Matt for his commitment and contribution to the club over a number of years and wishes him the best for the future.
