Brisbane Roar NPL back on track with big win over Rochedale

Brisbane Roar’s NPL squad were victorious against Rochedale Rovers on Saturday night putting on a spectacular display of goals to come away with a 4-0 win and all three points.

The Roar were determined to get back on track, and this was evident through their dominance and ruthless attack on goals.

Thomas Waddingham opened the scoring in the 16th minute after driving into the box to bury a shot into the bottom left corner.

Moments later, Ayom Majok had an opportunity at goal through a shot from range that broke through Rochedale’s defence but just went wide of the post.

In the 22nd minute, Ty Cobb gained control of the ball, kept composure and then found space to curl the ball in for a stunning goal.

Just before half-time, Brisbane Roar found another goal with Majok beating the defence line and crossing it in for Waddingham to take a touch, turn and tuck it away from in the box.

The 4-0 victory was sealed when Rylan Brownlie regained possession for the Roar and found the net, capitalising on a Rochedale mistake.

After countless efforts and hard work each week, Saturday night finally saw this effort translated onto the scoreboard and Head Coach Owen Baker could not be prouder.

“It was an incredible performance by our lads against Rochedale on the weekend, they are a tough team to play against and have been in incredible form themselves. Other than the Olympic game last week, I’ve been really happy with our performances but in our last three games, we didn’t get the reward,” Baker said.

“On Saturday night, everything just clicked for us, and the boys worked incredibly hard for the win and showed some special moments of quality to score four great goals,” he added.

“The lads have shown trust and belief in how we want to play, the execution matched the effort on the weekend and the lads got their reward.”

Brisbane Roar are back to sitting seventh on the ladder and will face first-placed Gold Coast Knights this Friday night.
