Next-gen keen to impress ahead of Eastern Suburbs clash

Young Roar return to NPL Queensland action with a Round 16 match up against Eastern Suburbs at Meakin Park on Sunday afternoon.

Sunday’s match will be the second meeting between the two sides in just under a fortnight after they played out a 3-3 draw at Heath Park in the reverse fixture.

Roar showcased their never say die attitude, fighting back from a 3-1 half time deficit to snatch a point with Caleb Butler, Aaron Morris and Jackson O’Reilly finding the back of the net for Karl Dodd’s side.

Roar start the weekend in tenth position on the NPL Queensland ladder on 14 points, three points shy of seventh place Easts.

In Roar’s most recent outing, a club record Kappa Pro Series campaign came to an end at the Semi Final stage after a late fightback saw the side edged out 3-2 by Lions at Meakin Park.

Goals from Asim Sehovic and David Russell had Roar 2-1 ahead at the break before a second half Andy Pengelly double saw the defending Kappa Pro Series and NPL Queensland Champions fight back to defeat a valiant Young Roar.

Sunday’s match up with Easts marks the start of another busy week for Young Roar who make two trips down the M1 to face Gold Coast Knights at the Croatian Sports Centre on Wednesday as well as Gold Coast United at Coplicks Sports Park on Saturday.

Roar’s next gen will be keen impress with a number of players from the club’s NPL set up involved in training as pre-season kicked off for the club’s Isuzu UTE A-League 25/26 campaign this week.

Sunday’s match at Meakin Park kicks off at 2:30pm and will be live streamed on FQTV and the Football Queensland YouTube channel.
