CEO Update: April 2025

To our Brisbane Roar members and fans,

As we enter the final week of the A-Leagues season for 2024/25, I want to share an important update on the club’s progress – both on and off the field.

There can be no denying it has been a challenging season. However, there are important positives that give us cause for optimism.

Firstly, you. As our members and fans of the Brisbane Roar, you have been our shining light. Your unwavering support, from record-breaking crowds at Perry Park for our A League Women’s team to your loyalty through the ups and downs of our Men’s campaign, has not gone unnoticed. On behalf of Brisbane Roar, I sincerely thank you for your support.

On the field, our Ninja A-League Women’s team narrowly missed finals after a season full of excitement and heart. We intend to continue to strengthen our side and intend to build on the momentum of this season.

Off the field, Brisbane Roar has undergone significant transformation.

The football club required urgent rebuilding across every area – from community engagement to commercial and football operations. It is thanks to the dedication of our staff and volunteers that we have made tremendous strides in restoring the club’s foundations.

This hard work is paving the way for long-term, sustained success, and we are now entering the next critical phase – this includes:

  • Infrastructure investment relating to our high-performance training centre at Brendale, stadium infrastructure strategy and clubhouse ambition.
  • Investment into technical football operations – beginning with the appointment of a new Sporting Director, tasked with overseeing the technical direction of both our Men’s, Women’s and Academy programs.
  • The relaunch of the Brisbane Roar Academy.

The continued backing of our ownership group ensures we can make these transformative investments to strengthen our club across all levels.

Turning to our A-League Men’s team – while recent results have shown some light, we know the overall season has fallen well short of the standards we expect. As CEO, alongside the Board, our players and technical staff, we take responsibility.

Change and improvement is underway. With new technical leadership to drive better football operations and outcomes, stronger administration, and further investment into key areas, we are determined for sustainable success and a club that consistently makes you proud.

I again want to thank you again for your continued support of your football club. You are standing with us in the challenging times, and I have no doubt you will continue to be here as we chart a new course ahead of season 2025/26.
