Roar to take part in Football Queensland’s blockbuster Mitre Festival of Football

Football Queensland’s Mitre Festival of Football will return this year as a blockbuster 15 matches are held across the Metro and Sunshine Coast regions in five massive weeks of football.

The action kicks off on Saturday, 5 September with the FQPL 2-6 Grand Final weekend, before the NPL Queensland and FQPL 1 Grand Finals are followed by three unmissable clashes featuring Queensland’s state representative teams and the Brisbane Roar A-League Men’s and Women’s sides.

“The Mitre Festival of Football has become one of the most anticipated events on the Football Queensland calendar and returns for a seventh consecutive year in 2026, showcasing the talent of our state’s best players while uniting the football community in a wonderful celebration of our game,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.

“We’re particularly excited to bring the excitement of the Mitre Festival of Football to even more football fans this year as the Queensland Women vs Brisbane Roar Women match is held at Sunshine Coast Stadium during the Pacific Championships which will welcome junior teams from across the state, country and abroad.

“This initiative reflects a significant investment from Football Queensland into showcasing and promoting Queensland football content, giving fans greater access to high-quality live football experiences and further cementing the Mitre Festival of Football as a marquee celebration of our game.”

“We look forward to delivering more unforgettable moments for our Queensland football community as the 2026 season draws to a close and would like to thank Mitre and the Brisbane Roar for their continued support of this event.”

“Brisbane Roar is excited and privileged to once again be part of the Mitre Festival of Football,” Brisbane Roar CEO Kaz Patafta said.

“As a key period on the Queensland football calendar, featuring countless Grand Finals and exhibition games, there is no better time when the entire football community truly comes together, and we look forward to having both our A-League Men’s and A-League Women’s take on the best of the best across Queensland football.”
