Davies: Confidence building under Smith

Brisbane Roar forward Bonnie Davies said that since joining Roar in December, she is progressing positively and feels her confidence growing under Head Coach Alex Smith.

After briefly training with Smith at Peninsula Power FC in the Queensland NPL, Davies is pleased to be getting minutes now in the Liberty A-League.

“It’s been really fun; I think I’ve been developing positively. Alex has been giving me minutes in lots of game scenarios which is good for my confidence,” she said.

“It’s good with Alex, to relate to him, because he’s obviously been a professional athlete before.”

The 23-year-old looks forward to being back at Perry Park in front of home support to push through the final five matches of the season.

“The atmosphere there is great, I think all the girls love playing in front of their family and friends and it’s really wholesome having everyone on your side. So keen!”

Returning from the international break, Davies said it was a good time to refresh as the squad look to finish the season strong.

“It was really nice to just getaway, it was relaxing up at Noosa with some of the girls. Had a really good time there. In terms of training, we just focused on getting some game minutes into everyone and just resetting ready to go for the last couple of games.”

Brisbane are determined for a big three points at home this Saturday as they take on second-placed Melbourne City.

“City are a really good team, they’ve had a good season so far. They play nice attractive football, as do we so I think it’s going to be a good contest.”
