Laini Freier signs two-year deal with Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar are delighted to announce that Queensland midfielder and Matilda, Laini Freier has signed a two-year extension that will see her at the club through to the end of the 2026/27 Ninja A-League season.

The 23-year-old has had an incredible breakthrough 2024/25 season thus far bursting onto the A-League scene alongside twin sister, Sharn Freier.

After making her Ninja A-League debut in Round 5 against Wellington Phoenix, Freier set the pitch on fire scoring seven goals with two assists in her 10 appearances for the club.

In her first start for the club away to Newcastle Jets, Freier scored an incredible hat trick after having her first club goal assisted by her sister, Sharn.

Seven days later, Laini Freier made competition history with back-to-back hat tricks in just her second start for Brisbane Roar.

These outstanding performances have led to her first CommBank Matildas call-up that will see her take part in the SheBelieves Cup in the United States alongside her captain, Tameka Yallop in the upcoming February international window.

Freier who is a former local Brisbane City product, is now being recognised as one of the most exciting attacking midfielders in the Ninja A-League.

“It has been really special playing with my sister at this level and being able to play for my hometown in front of my family and friends,” Freier said.

“I have obviously been playing in the NPL for a long time and to be able to play in the A-League is something that I have always wanted to do,” she added.

‘I’m grateful for the bunch of girls that I have been playing with and to be able to learn from the experienced girls. I look forward to being at Roar for another couple of seasons.”
