Kurtišhi moved to Austria when he was 13 and began his career with an Austrian club Rapid Wien. Following stints in Kazakhstan, Macedonia and the UAE, Kurtišhi signed a one-year contract with the Hyundai A-League Champions in July 2014. Although born in Macedonia, Kurtišhi identifies as being Albanian.
