Mileusnic: Full focus on three points

Brisbane Roar winger, Nikola Mileusnic says his sides sights are firmly set on three points ahead of Sunday’s Isuzu UTE A—League clash against Newcastle Jets at Allianz Stadium.

Roar head to Sydney for Unite Round which sees all 12 A-League club’s in action in harbour city this weekend.

Eleven rounds into the 2023/24 campaign Roar sit ninth, just three points shy of the top six and a point ahead of the tenth placed Jets.

Mileusnic, who sits level atop the club’s goalscoring charts alongside Jay O’Shea on four goals said his side were confident of bouncing back with a result on Sunday evening.

“We’re definitely going to Sydney with the mentality to get those three points and I think with the stuff we’ll do during the week at training we’ll definitely nail down and give it our best shot,” Mileusnic said.

Sunday’s match will see new Roar Head Coach, Ben Cahn take charge of the side for a second time.

Mileusnic, who scored the first goal of the Ben Cahn era added he and his teammates were really enjoying the direction their new boss has them headed in.

“We’ve had some tough results and a bit of disruption with the team and new coaching staff coming in, but they’ve come in and they’ve really set a direction of where we want to go and we’re trying to implement that everyday in training,” Mileusnic said.

“Not just me, but the whole team has really responded well, we’ve really bought into to the direction he wants to go in and I think it’s shown in parts of last game especially, there was things that we worked on during training which we did in the game and it worked.

“Obviously, there was parts where we didn’t execute quite as well but that’s just going to come with time.

“Ben’s doing a great job with the little amount of time he’s had, I think with time with more time we’ll be a really good team.”

“He’s very clear in the messages he gives us as a team and the direction he wants to go which is has made it easy for us to buy in and try and work on that during the training weeks and like I said just before, it’s coming out during the game.”

Sunday’s match kicks off at 6:45pm AEST at Allianz Stadium and will broadcast live on Paramount+
