NPL R11 Preview: Olympic FC vs Young Roar

Young Roar aim to return to the winner’s circle when they make the trip to Goodwin Park to face Olympic FC in NPL Queensland Round 11 action on Sunday evening.

Karl Dodd’s side start the weekend in sixth on the NPL Queensland ladder, four points shy of the competition’s top four having played seven matches so far this season.

Roar had a three-match winning run which included victories over Wynnum Wolves, St George Willawong and Gold Coast United halted with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Brisbane City in their last outing.

A first half strike from former Roar forward, Cai Tipaldo proved decisive against a Young Roar side who finished the match with ten men after Lennard Atterwell was dismissed for his second caution of the contest.

Olympic, who are coached by former Roar midfielder and youth team boss, Chris Grossman currently sit tenth on the NPL Queensland ladder with two wins from six games this season.

The Goodwin Park outfit, who prevailed 2-1 against Moreton City midweek in the Queensland Cup are home to several former Young Roar players including Daniel Leck, Danny Driver, Jackson Simpkin, Brandon McMorrow and Damon Gorrel.

Sunday’s NPL Queensland Round 11 action at Goodwin Park kicks off at 6pm and will be broadcast live on FQTV and the Football Queensland YouTube channel.
