Young Roar are up against Peninsula Power in NPL Queensland Round 12 action at Nudgee Recreation Reserve on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams sit level in eighth position in a pack of three sides on nine points ahead of Saturday’s encounter at Nudgee Recreation Reserve.
Roar look to return to the winner’s circle after having a three-match winning run halted with back-to-back 1-0 defeats at the hands of Brisbane City and Olympic in their last two outings.
Power are winless in their last five league games but draws against each of last year’s Grand Finalists, Moreton City and Lions FC in their most recent matches showcase the quality in Aaron Philp’s side.
The side from AJ Kelly Park, who finished third in the NPL in 2024 are home to former Roar defender, Matt Mundy along with several ex-Young Roar players including Rhys Gray, Kane Gibbs and Solomon Weldemariam.
The two sides have already met once this season with Power prevailing 4-0 at AJ Kelly Park on the opening day of the 2025 NPL Queensland season against a Roar side who finished the match with nine men and had Luke Nieuwenhof sent off inside the opening minute.
Saturday’s match marks the start of a busy week for Karl Dodd’s side who travel to face Gold Coast United in the Kappa Pro Series Quarter Finals at Coplicks Sports Park on Tuesday night after qualifying for the competition’s final eight for the first time.
Roar then return to NPL action on Sunday with a clash against league leaders, Lions at Meakin Park.
Saturday’s Round 12 clash against Peninsula Power kicks off at 3pm and will live streamed on FQTV or the Football Queensland YouTube channel.
