NPL R3 Preview: Redlands United vs Young Roar

Young Roar make the trip to Compass Grounds to face Redlands United in NPL Queensland Round 3 action on Saturday evening.

Roar come into Saturday’s match off the back of a 3-2 defeat at the hands of last year’s Grand Finalists, Moreton City Excelsior at Wolter Park in Round 2.

A brace from the club’s youngest ever A-League Men’s goal scorer, Rylan Brownlie had Roar two goals to the good before a late fightback from the home side including a 96th minute winner saw Excelsior snatch all three points at the death.

Brownlie was one of two players to feature for Young Roar at the weekend after gaining A-League minutes this season alongside Ryan Lethlean.

Redlands United, who finished tenth on the NPL Queensland ladder last season have a point to their name after their opening two fixtures which has seen them take a draw and defeat from matches against Rochedale and Olympic.

The Red Devils, who are coached by Griffin Mansfield-Taylor start the weekend one spot above Young Roar in ninth.

United front man, Peter Klaassen who has three goals to his name this season is one of only three players to have bettered Rylan Brownlie’s return of two league goals so far.

Saturday’s match kicks off at 5:30pm at Compass Grounds after the U23 match at 3:30pm and will be broadcast live on the Football Queensland YouTube channel and FQTV.
