Queensland midfielder Alicia Woods signs for 2024/25 A-League Women Season

Brisbane Roar are delighted to announce the re-signing of Queensland midfielder Alicia Woods for the upcoming 2024/25 A-League Women Season.

Woods signed her first professional scholarship contract in January after spending the previous two seasons in the NPL Queensland with Peninsula Power FC, one of those seasons playing under Roar Head Coach Alex Smith.

The 20-year-old burst onto the A-League scene at the back end of the 2023/24 campaign, making her debut in Round 16 against Western United before quickly finding herself in the starting line-up.

The midfielder made two brilliant assists for Tameka Yallop and Sharn Freier’s goals in Roar’s 2-0 victory over Melbourne City at Perry Park in Round 18.

Woods made her junior national team debut at the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2024 against New Zealand in March. She has since been selected in the CommBank Young Matildas 21-player squad ahead of the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024 in September.

“I’m pumped to be resigning for Roar this season. It’s always been a dream of mine to play for this club, so I’m honoured to be out there again,” Woods said.

“I enjoyed the environment so much last year, and I think this year will be even more competitive, I’m keen to see just how far we can go.”
