Queensland talent Zara Kruger returns to Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar is delighted to welcome back young Queensland attacking midfielder Zara Kruger for the 2024/25 Liberty A-League season.

Born and raised in Warwick, Kruger spent the 2023/24 season with the Championship-winning Sydney FC side, playing 17 games and scoring a goal in the successful campaign.

The 18-year-old was recently selected as part of the CommBank Young Matildas 21-player squad travelling to Colombia for the 2024 U-20 Women’s World Cup this September.

Kruger made her mark in the Queensland NPL with Lions FC by being a regular starter for the competition’s powerhouses before joining Roar on a scholarship contract on loan for the 2022/23 season.

In her last stint in the Sunshine State, Kruger earned regular call-ups to the Young Matildas and made 10 A-League appearances with Brisbane.

Kruger looks forward to wearing the orange jersey again.

“I really appreciate the opportunity to play for Brisbane Roar this season,” Kruger said.

“I’m looking forward to playing back in my home state in front of some very supportive fans and I am honored to be amongst a team of very exciting players.”

“I can’t wait to get started with this team with an aim to make finals this season.”
