Brisbane Roar suffered a late 3-2 defeat at the hands of Newcastle Jets in Pride Round at Perry Park on Sunday evening.
Roar were hot out of the gates, with captain Tameka Yallop opening the scoring in just the seventh minute with a composed strike in the box to find the bottom left corner.
The Jets’ Emma Dundas equalised for the visitors in 17th minute with a great strike from range but just a few minutes later, Yallop scored a brilliant strike to secure herself a brace and quickly reclaim the lead.
After returning from the half-time break, Deven Jackson levelled the score by putting one away from the angle in the box.
Newcastle stunned Roar with an extra time goal by Lauren Allen for the visitors to secure three points at Perry Park.
Ruby Cuthbert came off the bench in added time to mark her return from a hamstring injury and her first game of the 24/25 season.
Brisbane Roar head south next week for their Round 20 Ninja A-League clash against Adelaide United with hopes of keeping their finals ambitions alive.
