Brisbane Roar are pleased to announce the addition of Japanese star defender Momo Hayashi from NPL QLD side Gold Coast United to the 2024/25 A-League Women squad.
Since arriving in Queensland in 2019, Hayashi established herself in the NPL QLD and has starred for Gold Coast United for six seasons, making a total of 107 appearances and scoring 30 goals.
After graduating university in Japan, Hayashi joined Speranza Osaka Takatsuki in the Nadeshiko League Division 1 for two years before playing for Okayama Yunogo Belle in Nadeshiko League Division 2 from 2017-2018.
From Japan to the Gold Coast, Hayashi has made quite the footballing impact in Queensland since her arrival.
In her first year at the club, she was awarded Technical Director’s Award and Football Queensland Team of the Season before also receiving this award in 2020 and 2022. She received Gold Coast United Player’s Player for the first time in 2022.
Last year, the 29-year-old won Football Queensland Player of the Year, Football Queensland Player’s Player, Gold Coast United Player of the Year and Football Queensland Team of the Season.
“It was the easiest decision I’ve ever made,” Hayashi said.
“I’ve always dreamed of playiing in the A-Leagues, so when I received an offer, I was super excited,” she added.
“I’ll do my best to see how far I can go in this league and to help the team. I’m excited to face new challenges and improve my skills on the field.”
